Curitiba is a city of many gardens and parks. It is said that there are 2 trees for every man, woman or child and it is fitting that visiting parks and enjoying the nature are important parts of life of every "Curitibano". The Linha Turismo is a great way to see (or show your visitors) many of the attractions Curitiba has to offer without driving all over the city yourself. This tourist bus (called a Jardineira in Portuguese because it is open and looks like a garden bench) runs from Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm, with stops every 30 minutes. The 44 km tour takes 2 1/2 hours (plus stops) and requires the purchase of a voucher that permits you to get on and off at four attractions of your choice. Price per voucher R$15,00. To see a list of stops and verify current prices, visit www.viaje.curitiba.pr.gov.br. |

These pioneers worshipped Nossa Senhor da Luz and made a special place there for her statue. The legend tells that every morning the image turned her eyes to a pine tree forest (pinhal) which the pioneers knew was a sacred place of the Caingangues Indians. The explorers took this as a sign that Nossa Senhora was showing them a special place for their village. Even though they knew that the Indians took them as enemies, the pioneers took the risk and went in to the forest to find this special place.
