Buzios

Here you have another destination I personally think you should not miss during your Brazilian stay.

According to the history books, Búzios was discovered by the Portuguese at the start of the 16th century. Locals however know better!! Búzios was actually discovered in 1964 by Brigitte Bardot. Convinced by an Argentine friend, she spent two well documented stays parading her famed bikini-clad torso along the unspoiled beaches and in process spreading the fame of Búzios across the globe.

The town hasn't been the same since. Búzios, once a tranquil fishing village frontin the lapping waters of a bay, became, since Brigitte Bardot, a synonym for all that splendour in the tropics is supposed to be: white sand beaches, crystalline water, palm trees, coconuts and one of the super-hyped travel destinations.

But you will not be disappointed! It is not as good as a poster, it is even better....that's what locals told me.

Located 190km east from Rio de Janeiro along what is known as the Sun Coast (Costa do Sol ).You take a flight to Rio and there you can rent a car or take a bus till Búzios, once there, rent a car. As usual if you want to spend relaxing holidays, avoid the Carnival period.....but if you want to "party"...nothing better.

Many accomodations are "Pousadas" but you also have few hotels. The one we went to was called "NAS ROCAS", located on a small island off the coast called Ilha Rasa ( actually the hotel occupies the entire island ). It is composed of different sized bungalows equiped with mini-bar, air conditioning and safety box. There is a delicious mainly seafood restaurant, a night club, tennis court, volleyball, swimming pool, souvenir shop, conference room and churrascaria/bar at the beach. You can rent Lasers (little sailing boats ) wind-surfs, jet-skis and canoes.Thay also organize daily boat trips to visit all the beaches around. It is really a very nice place. You wake up in the morning with the only noise of the waves and the birds.
