A great weekend getaway... Florianópolis is known for its beautiful beaches and landscape, especially in the southern part of the island. We spent 4 days in a lovely resort called "Costão do Santinho" which is situated on the northeast coast of the isle near to a place called Ingleses. This resort is comprised of 14 villas and each villa contains a number of apartments. Apartments range in size from with 1/2/3 or 4 bedrooms (each with its own bath) a comfortable living room, cable tv., phone, fully equipped kitchen, air-conditioning, safety boxes and terraces. Prices range from $R122 to $R884, depending on the size of the apartment, number of persons and its position (facing the sea or not) and includes breakfast and dinner or lunch. The resort has a soccer field, 5 tennis courts, 2 outdoor swimming pools, 2 heated indoor pools, 3 Jacuzzis, wet and dry saunas, massages, gymnastics and fitness rooms, a beauty salon, shops, 6 bars, 2 restaurants (one with a traditional international menu and 1 on the beach with Brazilian seafood specialities), conference rooms for 20/100 and 600 people with all the infrastructure and equipment for adult and child entertainment. Childrens' programs and outings are offered and scheduled throughout the day, free of charge, and surfing classes also are offered down at the beach for those of you who may enjoy surfing. The fee is approximately R$90 per person for 3 hours class. It also offers car rental, room service and baby-sitting services. To get there from Curitiba you can either travel by plane or by car taking the BR 101. The trip is approximately 300 kms and it should take you approximately 3 - 4 hours depending on your driving and, of course, the traffic - try to avoid the hours when everyone leaves because then it might take you up to 5 hours.
